About Alibeka Thrift & Accessories
My name is Alice Kahura, a 26-year-old entrepreneur and young mother, and the founder of Alibeka Thrift and Accessories. Despite the challenges of today’s economy, I have successfully built a business that provides affordable thrifted clothing for both men and women, as well as jewellery and accessories, while creating employment opportunities for two young ladies. The innovation behind my business lies in strategically sourcing quality second-hand clothing at affordable prices, identifying market demand, maintaining competitive pricing, and managing inventory, shop operations, and staff to promote profitability and long-term sustainability. I have also embraced digital innovation by using social media platforms to showcase our products, reach a wider customer base, increase sales, and generate additional income that supports my financial needs and lifestyle. Through Alibeka, I am demonstrating that innovation does not always require advanced technology or huge capital; sometimes, it means finding smarter ways to use available resources, solve everyday problems, and create opportunities for others. My vision is to grow Alibeka into a sustainable fashion enterprise that empowers young people, creates more employment, and makes fashion accessible and affordable. Through the Mizani Innovation Hub, I hope to connect with mentors, partners, and opportunities that will help me scale my business and expand its impact. Alibeka Thrift and Accessories is more than a fashion business; it is a story of resilience, resourcefulness, youth empowerment, and turning limited opportunities into meaningful progress.
